Thanks Frantiani. I have no real desire to ride over here! But if I could get an ½ûÂþÌìÌà licence or take CBT and test (iirc 50cc @ 16, or same test 150cc @ 17 - i think) then use it over there, I'd be quite pleased.
I'm 16 very soon and basically a friend and I love coffee, mean adore coffee. Thinking of spending three/four days in Rome, see the sites drink the coffee. We develop software and are writing some bespoke applications for some people. That should = money! Whilst speaking about that I thorughly recommend Cafe Life Rome by Joe Wolff. Would be good to get out of Rome for a day of four or so on our 50cc beasts! :p
Other problems are insurance and finding a place that will loan to under 18s. I've had a look at some of the scooter places in Rome and they have it in their t&cs.
I've looked on the net, but very little seems to be listed about italy and scootering apart from the new law :(
cheers

Matt, just a quick thought, I think you need to ensure that there are company's who would hire to you first... then check with them for their preferred licence. The original reference to taking the CBT in England probably assumed that English was your mother tongue, as it would probably be easier to pass if you understood your instructor, of course, if you're a good ½ûÂþÌìÌà speaker, that obviously wouldn't be a problem... Good Luck.

Good point - will do some more investigations. What may happen is a little visit around Easter, check out some of the sites then find some scooter places see what they want in the terms of licences then come back and return in the summer for longer with a suitable licence. Must get coding for the money first!
½ûÂþÌìÌà point is one I'd overlooked - quite important that one.
Thanks both of you.
A friend and I are planning a trip to Italy...
after the introduction of requiring basic training to ride scooters (up to iirc 50cc) how long does this training last, is there a test at the end of it, how long does the licence last, where does one go to do it e.t.c. Last thing I read about it was that most teenagers just rode without a licence as enough training/testing places weren't provided.
If we both got CBTs over here, could we then ride in Italy without taking this new ½ûÂþÌìÌà test.
Thanks
Hi Matt1eD, The CBT training is done in one day a certificate is given to you when you have finished, most people fly through it that can basically ride a scooter/bike, this certificate lasts for two years, if you have not taken your test or ride a bike within that time , you have to re do the CBT, prov licence and CBT is required for scooter up to 50cc carrying NO PASSENGER in uk, if you look in yellow pages or look on internet you should find your local bike training school, they are everywhere, as far as italy is concerned im not sure as i know in the last couple of years, the teenagers had to sit some kind of test , you could find out more by going on internet, let us know how you get on, :)
