2034 Hello

Hi,....just a little introduction.

We live in Southampton but have a wreck of a house in Le Marche, near to Servigliano. It has taken two and a half years to make virtually no progress. However, we love Le Marche and always leave sadly and immediately want to book our next trip out there. We are both teachers but I tend to do quite a mixture of things - most recently teaching art/textiles to adults and doing some of my own work.
On the house front - well - what made me go ahead and register on this website was a posting recently from someone who was disheartened at their lack of progress with their house in Ancona. We too have had a project manager/estate agent, who has appeared unable to organise very much and we have had to make changes. Two and a half years is a long time to wait. Needless to say we too have been very discouraged. I have found it encouraging to hear that the many problems have been overcome. Rosebee.

Hi

Welcome to the forum, it's informative and you have some where to turn for advice or just a chat. Nice to know you are not alone.

The major problem you have is not being here in Italy to keep everyone moving on the project. When we first bought our house we had some works planned in prior to our eventual move. Needless to say, we arrived without water, hot or cold, the electrics were still rubbish and the place looked like a dumping ground aswell as a building site. We got it into shape within a couple of months only because we were here. Even the builders said they wouldn't be here if we hadn't kept nagging them.

Maybe you need to change your project manager.

Maybe someone local to you could help to project manage or push things along a bit.

It's frustrating but your not alone. You'll get there one day. Patience.

Hi Rosebee
We too have had our villino near Rome for a while (4 years??) and we realized early on that if we were not there ourselves there would be no progress. Our geometra who was overseeing work started off well but things soon slowed down. We now plan it in to our visits so holidays are really working holidays but now we have accepted that nothing will happen whilst we're away we look at it positively - we will get there in the end and there won't be any unpleasant surprises.

Welcome to the forum to you all in this thread. What a shame that your properties are not near us. Think we would have been able to help you with more success!

Hello Rosebee and welcome to the forum.
Have read your post regarding your property in Servigliano and have sent you a private message if you think we can be of any help please contact us.

[FONT="Book Antiqua"][SIZE="3"]Hi and welcome

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. My brother in law bought a house in France 4 years ago and he had a nightmare of a time...sued the architect, sacked the builders..... ..its now ok (ish) and luckily he has plenty of money.

We bought our wreck in Abruzzo with the plan to do all the work ourselves except the roof as we can see it's impossible to manage it from the UK .Luckily we are both self employed Andrew as an artist me a jewellery designer so next year we are camping out at the house with my brother and getting stuck in at least until it snows!

Could one of you not take a year off to go out and project manage? Yes it could mean a bit of belt tightening and no treats for a while but then at least you will have made progress?

Our geometra is pretty useless at communicating with us and I can just imagine how much would get done if we weren't out in Italy!!If you complain about the slowness you get told to put your ½ûÂþÌìÌà hat on!! grrrr

We too moved here from Chandlers Ford, very close to Southampton. We absolutely love it and have had our share of things not happening - keep on going and you really do have to become very pro-active, almost to the point of nagging to persude our lovely ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs that they want to finish your house.

It a bit like dealing with uk solicitors - whilst our own case is the top most importance to us, to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs we are just one client, and of course there are always other distractions to take up their time.

I took to emailing our geometra every other day and phoning once a week.

It will all work in the end but please feel free to email or phone me as I am regularly in the uk
regards
Pam
