740 Registering dependants

Hello,
I am going to be working in Rome from Sept onwards and my employer will be sorting out my Permesso di Soggiorno and Codice Fiscale. This entitles my to register with a GP , open bank accounts etc. Does anyone know what the situation is with my wife, who has yet to get a job? Will she be able to register , etc and take up health care? Will she be entitled to Unemployment benefit ( if there is such a thing?)

Hope there is someone out there who can help

Many thanks

General chat about Italy

There are many people on this site that know more about this than me.
I have been told that as a unemployed person your wife can join the National Health Service (SSN - Servizio Sanitario Nazionale) for an initial cost of 388 euro as long as she has a valid permit to stay, this I believe will last a year and will give the same cover as an ½ûÂþÌìÌà National.
If she starts work then it's a different ballgame.
This is a subject I am researching myself as I will be in a similar situation.
There is a form E106 you may be able to get try www.dwp.gov.uk and search for E106.
Best of luck

She will be able to regisetr and will be entitled to health care, but the unemployment benefit in Italy doesn't really exists...but I am sure she will get a job quite easily in Rome!
Good luck

Paola

Like Stribs there are probably other people on the site that know more about this but your wife will be able to get a permesso di soggiorno and codice fiscale - having a job is not necessary to get that. Going to the questura and agenzia delle entrate will sort them out. As far as unemployment benefit goes the way I understand it is that here you can only receive it if you have made 6 months of contributions and then you only get a maximum of 6 months. That's only what I've heard in general conversation so I'm happy to be corrected by anyone that knows in a more official capacity.
