530 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin

Hi there. As an ice hockey fan, I couldn't believe my good fortune when I was fortunate enough to secure tickets for the Winter Olympics in Turin in February 2006. As it is half term week in England, my eldest son (who will be 15 then) is coming with me. We have the tickets & have booked the flights, but we are looking for some accommodation. I've been checking out the hotels offered through the official Olympic website, but they are all miles out of the city, & as most of the events we have tickets for are in Turin itself, we were wondering if any 'Italy' readers had, or could recommend, accommodation to rent in Turin (or any lucky readers who lived in Turin would be wiling to rent out a room for a week!!). Thanks in hope. Kind regards

Tony

If its any help,i stayed in Turin in April, it was at the Hotel Due Mondi (booked through Expedia.co.uk). The hotel is a few minutes walk from Stazione di Porta Nuova (central train station), SADEM buses run frequently between here and the airport. If you purchase the 'Torino card' you get 25% off the airport bus, + it allows you to use the public transport network of Turin free of charge, along with giving you free entry to more than 130 museums & attractions in Piedmonte, these tickets are valid for 48 or 72 hours. for more information;

If time permits, a visit to the Basillica di Superga can be recommended, also the egyptian museum is reputed as only being bettered by the one in Cairo.
I hope that some of this may be of help too you.
