that sounds like very good value - about a third of what I'm paying at the moment. Just a couple of questions - can you use them from a home landline and where can I buy the card?
Thanks.
thanks for this ernie I am looking into finding the best solution for myself and I am trying out skype.com right now - mixed results I have to say for calls to landlines but great if your friends have skype as well (why doesn't everyone just get it and then we can stop paying for calls...)
When it is good it is very very good but with dial-up it doesn't work. Does anyone know Telecom Italia's roll out plan for broadband in rural areas?

Ronald - Well, I haven't tried it with dial-up, but it works fineon my mobile and my home landline.
Nicola - I buy them at the Tabachaio, although you may need to shop around.
I learned about it from a very helpful guy at the Garbatella Metoor station, they have a kiosk with a range of cards.
Try asking your own T man or woman to get them for you, I think the profit must be good. When I buy 3 x €10 at a time, the lady almost kisses me ! "Ringrazie a LEI !!!"
BTW I also get about 60 minutes when talking to a mobile numer inthe UK.
It is a bit of a bind dialling the number to get "on line" as it were, but I store my number (option 1) and then dial the person I am calling, reading from a scrap of paper if I do not remember the number.
Sometimes the connection is poor, so ring off and try again. Aso, they seem to work in units of 2 minutes, but, what the heck, it's dirt cheap and life is very short.

The only cheap way to use your UK registered phone is not to use it. Get yourself an ½ûÂþÌìÌà sim card.

A friend uses Planet cards, I have not used them myself, but he swears by them.

I have just discovered Edicard sold at the "Tabbacheria" that do the lottery - they cost E10.00 for 350 minutes to Europe & America. You can use them from mobile phones, landlines & public call boxes.
