big news is 14 hour blockage on the torino motorway and questions being asked why the lorries had no chains and the motorway hadnt been cleared.... milan was blocked all weekend because the snow broke trees... alerts by the civil protection group are at a high level in lombardy and umbria.... there is more snow due today... north central but at levesl above 800m .....
apart from that there is rain all along the med coast... and it is spreading east... ... nothing as yet apart from the trapped motorists ...14 hrs in the freezing cold cannot be fun.... could really be called disastrous... milan airport had a few delays with the snow.... the tiber is staying just within its limits so rome is ok ...but out near the coast where it exits to the sea it has been very touch and go....
sdoj i think the arne... is that the florence river.... has been at all time highs...but agian they have monitored it carefully and i believe it has also just about behaved....
naples and rome whenever it rains also get floods... so its nothing unusual ...
... its a lot warmer here in central south now though...has been cold... but all i can say is its changeable....
i think i mentioned it before... http://www.rainews24.rai.it has a site much like the bbc and all current and up to date news is available through them on everything here... but in italian

Whoopee!!!!!
20cm - 50cm of snow on Mottarone [20 minutes up the road from my place]
Hope it lasts [it did last year] - going over in a few weeks time for some fun on the sledges
If it doesn't last - back to the bar!

Rain rain rain - at least in Lunigiana. We had a brief respite last Thursday but apart from that it's been raining on and off for about 10 days now.

Rain, rain and more rain in Alto Lazio. It appears that the rain for the whole season has fallen in just a few weeks and the ground is saturated causing lots of localised flooding. Photos in the local paper of Tarquinia looked pretty serious!

thanks guys for all your posts and I have marked as favourites the sites you have given me -well I think I have. I know how heavy the rain can be - in 1984 we were stuck in a hotel just off a motorway for almost a week due to floods and landslides and I know a lot has improved since then - just wondering what my villino is going through and whether the land around will have shifted to a huge pile at the bottom of the garden:(
Yippee

Oh poor babe...:(
Welcome il equestriano
(no doubt this is totally wrong - our ½ûÂþÌìÌà is still atrocious)
has anyone else been amazed how much you can make yourselves understood with lots of 'improvisation' (like charades) and molto smiles??
Welcome!

A belated welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy and find it useful. Is your villino north or south of Roma. Have you anyone keeping an eye on it?

thanks for your welcome -we're in the Colli Albani (where Frascati is - but we're on the cheaper side of the hills - no view of Rome) It's a constant worry when we leave the place unoccupied but we do have a friend who calls round and our neighbours use our drive to park excess cars so so far so good - hear frightening tales from the locals though:(
Here in Prato (nr. Florence) it is 12°C at the moment 11am CET - coldest over night was 10° whereas it has been down as low as 0° in the last 10 days. Over the weekend it snowed in the Alps 50cm in 2.5 hours in Piedemont - I was going to have my first ski of the season but glad I didn't -scores of people stuck on the Autostrade. Elsewhere it has rained a lot.
