Hoping that there is someone knowledgeable amongst forum members that can answer this query!
A young ½ûÂþÌìÌà friend of ours who lives in Milan has told us that she is no longer able to accept books(second hand gifts to her, no commercial value)sent to her from countries outside the EU. She cannot afford to as she says that she is charged E5.50 in customs taxes for each book received. since about early October.
Have been unable to find out any information but hoping someone will know what this is all about or tell us where to look!

I'd found the ½ûÂþÌìÌà Custom's site useful when I had a totally different question.
