Some resorts do Sat-Sat but most Sun-Sun, why not stay a night each side close to Pescara and go for the settimana corta? Having said that, 5 rooms is an interesting booking for any hotel and if the local tourist office have not heard about Ryanair and English halfterm then they should have done and have started promoting themselves to English schools. Last year, in Abetone, which is not as far south as Rocaraso but a good 5 hours south of the Alps, we saw a coachload of schoolchildren from Durham - I can't begin to imagine how difficult that journey must have been and the cost saving over flying must have been marginal at best.

the other alternative ...might be to check out flights to roma ciampino...more companies...including ryan air and about half an hours extra drive....also if you do not happen to be near stanstead...lots of other regional airports fly inot it...maybe ..even on a sunday....
