2036 Restaurant in Venice

We are in Venice for the New Year and are looking for a restaurant for New Years eve. We have been quoted costs of between 200 and 300 euros a head without wine. Anyone have any suggestions of places that you don't need a mortgage to eat in?
We know it will be expensive but I just think 200 to 300 euros is too much.

Il Cenone di Capodanno is a big thing in Italy and Venice is an expensive place... I doubt you would find anything cheaper that day.....

Ten years ago the price level was around 100 euros incl wine and spumante as we were in Nervi near Genoa and all little more popular restaurants had the same price. And as latoca mentioned Venice for sure costs more than other places, and indeed the celebration was very important to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃs everybody wearing their best

I am off to venice this weekend - meeting with some Venetian mates who are big foodies. Will ask them if they can suggest anywhere and come back to you next week.
My favorite place is the fiaschetteria toscana - [url]http://www.fiaschetteriatoscana.it/[/url] It has a fantastic wine list - don't know if they are doing a special NY menu. It is not cheap but is always full of Venetians ( a good sign!) might be worth a call..
