I just finished reading a massive book on wine. I'd recommend this book not only for the vast amounts of information about wine, but for it's detailed description
of every wine growing region around the world. For anyone thinking of moving to, or already living in Italy, it has pages on every province in all of Italy. This includes details on each region's geology, topography and climate, and how this relates to wine production. By reading this information you can get a very good feel for what the weather is like and tiny pockets of micro-climates within different provinces. The book is called "Wine".
