Vogue Italia is creating waves in the fashion world with its choice of cover girls for the June 2011 issue. Editor Franca Sozzani has featured three plus-size models in lingerie on the cover of the latest edition.
Fashion photographer Steven Meisel shot the 1960s style editorial with models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine, and Robyn Lawley.
Sozzani has long been an advocate for expanding the fashion industry's definition of beauty. The Vogue Italia editor launched in February to offer "style and beauty tips for a curvy figures."
"Fashion has been always blamed as one of the culprits of anorexia, and our commitment is the proof that fashion is ready to get on the frontline and struggle against the disorder," offered Sozzani.
2011 was also the first year that the Miss Italia welcomed curvier contestants, signaling a return to the celebration of classic beauties like Sophia Loren.
