An exhibit currently on display in Rome is exploring the way in which “Made in Italy” has shaped a national identity. “Unicità d'Italia" showcases 50 years of the exclusive design award, the Compasso d'Oro.

At the Palazzo delle Esposizioni the exhibit showcases the designs from 1961 to 2011 that have won the famed Compasso d'Oro, while securing a spot for design on the world stage. The iconic winning designs on display include the Moon Boot and the Panda.

At Rome’s MACRO museum in Testaccio, the “Unicità d'Italia" revolves around a documentary film that recognizes Made in Italy as one of the most dominant forces in shaping Italy’s identity today.

The MACRO exhibit also features designs that have been submitted since 2008 and are eligible for the next Compasso d'Oro.

Together, the two Roman exhibits give a retrospective of past, present and future award winning designs that have contributed to making Made in Italy a celebrated expression of craftsmanship and creativity.

runs until 25 September 2011.
