鈥淧uglia Open Days鈥 return to Apulia this summer for a great chance to discover the region鈥檚 cultural riches.
Every weekend until the end of September the summertime event features special openings and guided visits at more than 250 sites, including 68 borghi and historical centers, 60 basilicas, cathedrals, churches and sanctuaries, 27 castles, 45 museums, 17 historical palaces, 19 archeological areas, 3 theaters and 3 historic towers.
It is a wonderful opportunity to discover the charms of a beautiful region that boasts three UNESCO World Heritage sites: Castel del Monte, a 13th-century citadel and castle in Andria built by emperor Frederick II, the Trulli of Alberobello and the 13th century Sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo on the southern slopes of Monte Gargano.
Tourism representatives for the region predict the 2014 summer will see a high influx of visitors, with the most popular places expected to be Vieste and Gallipoli. 聽
