"This Must Be the Place" by Paolo Sorrentino marks the director's English-language feature debut where he directs Oscar winners Sean Penn and Frances Mc Dormandin in a road movie in the heart of America. The plot centres around Cheyenne (Sean Penn), a middle-aged wealthy rock star who becomes bored of being retired and sets out to find his father's executioner, an ex-Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the U.S.
Sorrentino first achieved international recognition in 2004 for his stylish thriller, The Consequences of Love (Le conseguenze dell'amore) and then with Il Divo, which is a dramatised biopic of Giulio Andreotti, a controversial ½ûÂþÌìÌà politician, which won the Prix du Jury at Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
In that occasion, Penn was President of the Jury and claimed that he would have loved working with Sorrentino in the future. And a year later, Sorrentino sent him the script of the "This Must Be the Place" and his new American adventure began. The film features also an original soundtrack by David Byrne, Talking Heads. It will be released in late 2011 and might be presented at Cannes Film Festival.
