New York’s Lincoln Center Runs ½ûÂþÌìÌà Film Season
The Lincoln Center in New York is staging a season of contemporary ½ûÂþÌìÌà movies.
The Film Society of Lincoln Center is mounting ‘Open Roads: New ½ûÂþÌìÌà Cinema 2013’ from 6 to 12 June. The society has run the ‘Open Roads’ season since 2001 and it has become the leading North American showcase for contemporary ½ûÂþÌìÌà cinema. Established filmmakers premiere new works alongside discoveries from fresh and emerging talent. There will be in-person appearances by directors Marco Bellochio, Daniele Ciprì, Pappi Corsicato, Elisa Fuksas, Salvatore Mereu, Susanna Nicchiarelli and Maria Sole Tognazzi.
The line-up includes Paolo Virzì’s romantic comedy ‘Tutti I Santi Giorni’ (Every Blessed Day), Nicchiarelli’s thriller ‘La Scoperta Dell’Alba’ (The Discovery At Dawn), Bellocchio’s examination of late-Berlusconi Italy ‘Bella Addormentata’ (Dormant Beauty), Corsicato’s satire of celebrity culture ‘Il Volto Di Un’Altra’ (The Face Of Another)
, Ciprì’s comedy about Sicilian family life ‘È Stato Il Figlio’ (It Was The Son
), Marco Tullio Giordana’s dissection of the Piazza Fontana bombing ‘Romanzo Di Una Strage’ (Piazza Fontana, The ½ûÂþÌìÌà Conspiracy), and Gianni Amelio’s adaptation of Albert Camus’ unfinished last novel ‘The First Man’.
Tickets cost US$13. All screenings will be held at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, 144 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue and Walter Reade Theater, at 165 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.
‘Open Roads’ is organised with Istituto Luce-Cinecittà - Filmitalia and the support of the Ministero per i Beni e le Attivitá Culturali (Direzione Generale per il Cinema) in collaboration with the ½ûÂþÌìÌà Cultural Institute of New York.
