An unprecedented exhibition and media event, "Lux in Arcana", has recently opened at the Capitoline Museums in Rome to mark the 4th Centenary of the foundation of the Vatican Secret Archives. For the first time in history, one hundred original and priceless documents selected among the treasures preserved and cherished for 400 years by the Vatican will be on display until September 2012.
The exhibition aims at explaining and describing what the Pope鈥檚 archives are and how they work giving access to some of the most interesting documents enshrined in the Vatican Secret Archives鈥 85 linear kilometers of shelving; records of an extraordinary historical value, covering a time-span that stretches from the 8th to the 20th century. Conclaves, heresies, popes and emperors, crusades, excommunications, ciphered letters manuscripts, codices, ancient parchments. A unique and once-in-a-lifetime event recounting history through its sources.

According to the Municipal by-law n. 32 of 26/03/2009 and due to the exceptionality of the exhibition, for Lux in Arcana, visitors who are usually entitled to free entry will be granted a reduced 鈧 2 鈥淩idottissimo鈥 ticket.
Free admission is granted only to children under 6 years of age, elementary and intermediate school groups, disabled people plus one carer and to 鈥淩oma Pass鈥 and 鈥淩oma&Pi霉鈥 card holders.
