A weekend dedicated to street food, wine and exploring the Franciacorta area of Lombardy: this is Franciacortando 2014, a two-day festival taking place this Saturday and Sunday.
Not your regular street food though, but rather a star-studded one since it will be prepared by seven of Italy’s top-ranked chefs, who will be welcomed as guests by seven of their peers in Franciacorta. One local chef and one from outside the region will work side by side to create their interpretations of classic Franciacorta dishes with a Street Food spin. Participating chefs include Davide Scabin, Emanuele Scarello, Igles Corelli, Christian and Manuel Costardi, Giuseppe Iannotti, Marco Stabile and Aurora Mazzucchelli.
Seven venues will be hosting the culinary events, as well as literary cafés, culinary workshops, contests, and exhibitions. A shuttle bus service will bring visitors to the Street Food venues, where wineries and traditional food producers of grappas, sweets, cold cuts and cheeses will offer guided tours and tastings.
The event is organized by the Strada del Franciacorta, an association of  wineries, local producers and artisans, hotels, historic residences, restaurants, and tourism bureaus. Its mission is to promote and develop Franciacorta’s tourism opportunities, particularly those related to fine food and wine. The route encompasses 80 kilometers.
