Dolomiti Ballon Festival

Imagine yourself flying up on a balloon over the stunning Alta Pusteria in the Dolomites, floating quietly in the blue sky, carried by the wind. Sounds like a great way to get away from it all, doesn鈥檛 it?!

You can try this magical experience at the Dolomiti Balloon Festival, which is currently under way in Dobbiaco until January 18 (balloon flying experiences are available throughout the year). 聽

The annual event features a competition among several hot-air balloons of different teams coming from around the world. The festival has grown over the years, becoming one of the major aerostatic events in Europe, with approximately 30 hot air balloons competing, with teams from Italy, Germany, England, France and Switzerland among others.

Throughout the years, several innovations in the aerostatic field were presented at the festival, including a balloon that uses the heat of the sun to rise in the sky, thereby avoiding any form of emission.

The festival is the perfect occasion to experience flying on a hot air balloon accompanied by experienced crews, but keep in mind you can do this throughout the year. Thanks to its slow pace, a balloon flight offers the opportunity to savor from high above the breathtaking view of the Dolomites, which, especially in winter, when the mountains are covered with snow and the air is crystal clear, are even more magical.

The cost for a one-hour flight is 290 Euros per person. Additional hours are 99 euros each.
