Florence will inaugurate its Museo del Novecento (20th Century Museum) on April 30, during the Notte Bianca cultural event (White Night): 800 square meters of exhibition space and 10 meeting rooms inside the former Leopoldine convent in Piazza Santa Maria Novella.
The new space will host 2,300 contemporary works of art, by such prominent artists as De Chirico, Sironi, Carrà , Morandi, Martini, Sassu, Guttridge, Barni, Rinaldi, Mannucci, Salvatori, Loffredo, Berti, Farulli, Magnelli and De Pisis.
The highly anticipated opening is not the only cultural project put into effect in Florence this spring: on May 10, the new Opera House will be inaugurated, the library in via dell'Oriuolo will be transformed into an open-shelf public library, the museum of Palazzo Vecchio will be expanded and a series of monuments will undergo restoration.
