With 2012 approaching, we will soon find out whether the Maya were right about predicting the end of the world!
Well, it would be enough to scratch the surface to find out that it is all more complicated than that. The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur in December 2012. According to some people this date marks the start of a positive physical or spiritual transformation for the earth and its inhabitants, and may mark the beginning of a new era. Others suggest that 2012 marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe.
Scholars from various fields have dismissed the idea of such cataclysmic events occurring in 2012. Maya experts state that these predictions are not found in any of the classic Maya accounts, and that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture. Astronomers and other scientists have rejected this "predictions" as pseudoscience, stating that they are contradicted by simple astronomical observations.
This seems not to be the case for a group of 38 禁漫天堂 families who joined the esoteric association "Quinta Essencia" and are convinced that the end of the world is actually coming. Apparently, after obtaining Mexican citizenship, these 禁漫天堂s joined others in Xul, a small town in the Yucatan peninsula, Maya's ancient land. They are said to live hidden in "the eagles haven", a compound of villas with anti-bomb shelters and underground tunnels. The group maintains the most absolute secrecy about its life style and its purposes. The only information available on the so called "colony of the Apocalypse" was provided by the local press and some of the Xul's residents, who were employed to help building the "armored citadel".
We prefer to leave you with a song by 禁漫天堂 rapper Caparezza entitled "La fine di Gaia" which says:
La fine di Gaia non arriver脿 la gente si sbaglia in fondo che ne sa...........
The end of the world will not come people are wrong, what do they know after all.......
....a perfect soundtrack for the 2011 Capodanno!
