Hi all,
Does anyone know any good places to stay in route from UK to Puglia. We will have a van full of stuff so it will need to be somewhere safe.
In general, is it safe to park a full van or has anyone had any bad experiences?
Thanks

IF you go thru Belgium/germany Austria you'll find it's relatively tranquillo without an excess of crime.Ostend there are plenty of quite cheap/clean nice small hotels with the plus of good fish meal.
German motorways are toll free so before dark when you're ready 4.30/5.00 pm exit anywhere and look for a gasthaus they're all over, sparkling clean ,reasonable prices, speak english (sort of) don't expect meals after 6.00 pm though (bit early inn'it)
Austria,more or less same.
by the way they all have private parking without crime.
Then it's Bolzano down to Modena/Bologna etc avoid major cities except that Rimini for example offers endless cheap off season accomodation without crime. And just take it from there.
if you want to stop here you're welcome it's just that we're an hour or more off the A14. so it's a bit far off your road.
if you do go off the motorway stop where the lorries are it's safer and the food's better and cheaper.Everything else just go thru internet to destinations along your way,cos it's a bit useless to recommend single hotels without knowing your timing, route, speed or exigencies anyway rest assured that it's all less perilous than the uk.
have a good trip.

We stayed here http://www.laminiera.it/ on our way down. It is in Ivrea, just off the A5 north of Torino. It was beautiful and secure (own fenced, gated garden). the breakfast was wonderful and they take dogs - which for us was a big requirement.
Don't know if that's of any use.........
Yes please, we could do with this info too!
